GigaSampler is a widely used proprietary instrument format used by TASCAM GigaStudio. The LinuxSampler project currently centers around this format and aims to provide an open source software synthesizer and editor. Swami has limited support currently, but plans to add conversion and minimal editing support in the near future.

This format is known for the following features:

• Disk streaming (although other formats are theoretically capable of doing this also)
• Dimension based regions
• Cross faded samples
• Large instrument banks (multiple gigs sometimes)
